I’m Laura Williams and I’m an education leadership coach.
I work with school leaders helping them to solve problems that they usually struggle with by themselves.
Having worked in education for over a decade, I’ve found that the difference between being qualified and actually doing the job is like learning to drive. You pass the test and you’re on the road. But the reality of the road is very different to what you encountered in test conditions. Even experienced drivers get lost and confused sometimes, as do school leaders, and the school leadership landscape can often feel like a very lonely place.

But how do I know if you’re the right person to help me?
I know that whatever your job title is or whatever level you’re at, there are problems that you come across that can’t be fixed by reading a book or attending a conference. I also know, that when you’re a school leader, asking for help is hard. It’s not something that we like to do. And if you’re an introvert, like me, then reaching out is even harder. Being a school leader is a lonely job but I believe that struggling in silence isn’t something that anyone should have to do. Which is why I do what I do now; so school leaders have someone to talk to. That you have someone to talk to; someone who knows what you’re going through, so you don’t have to do it alone.
What else is there to know about you?
I have fifteen years of leadership experience in education across business, operations, HR, finance and governance. I’m a former Business Manager, COO, CFO and Company Secretary and have both CIPD and specialist CIPFA qualifications.
I am a facilitator for both the NPQH and NPQEL programmes and have also written curriculum content for these qualifications.
